Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary: The Maintenance Engineer ensures that all equipment, systems and facilities in the hotel and outlets are functioning efficiently and safely. Responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing various mechanical, electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems. This role is crucial to maintaining operational standards and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular inspections of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.

  • Address and resolve maintenance requests in a timely manner.

  • Repair or replace equipment, fixtures, and systems as needed.

  • Develop and execute a preventive maintenance schedule for all equipment and facilities.

  • Monitor and maintain logs for boilers, chillers, refrigeration systems, and other critical systems.

  • Respond promptly to maintenance issues reported by guests or staff.

  • Minimize downtime by ensuring quick and efficient repairs.

  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and hotel or outlet policies.

  • Perform regular checks to ensure compliance with fire, safety, and health codes.

  • Maintain an organized and clean maintenance workshop.

  • Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities for energy savings.

  • Recommend upgrades to equipment to improve energy efficiency.

  • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or installations.

  • Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools and equipment.

  • Source and procure materials as needed while adhering to budget constraints.

  • Assist other departments such as housekeeping with maintenance-related tasks.

  • Train and mentor junior maintenance staff, if applicable.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Flexibility to work on-call, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications or vocational training in maintenance fields preferred.

  • Proven experience as a maintenance technician or engineer, preferably in the hospitality industry.

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems.

  • Knowledge of building codes, safety standards and fire regulations.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.

  • Climb ladders, operate power tools, and work in confined spaces.

  • Stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
