Line Cook

Job Summary: The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes in a fast-paced, high-end kitchen. This role requires precision, attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the restaurant's culinary standards. The Line Cook works as part of a team to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to the restaurant's recipes and standards.
Maintain consistency in flavor, presentation and portion sizes.
Ensure all dishes leave the kitchen on time and meet quality expectations.
Set up and stock assigned stations with necessary supplies and ingredients before service.
Keep stations clean, organized and efficient during service.
Work closely with other cooks, chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.
Communicate effectively about orders, special requests and any issues that arise during service.
Follow all food safety guidelines including proper handling, storage and labeling of ingredients.
Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment and tools throughout shifts.
Adhere to kitchen safety standards including knife handling and use of hot equipment.
Monitor inventory levels at your station and inform the chef of any shortages.
Properly store and rotate ingredients to minimize waste and ensure freshness.
Stay familiar with the restaurant’s menu including ingredients, preparation methods and presentation guidelines.
Be aware of dietary restrictions and accommodate special requests.
Assist with other kitchen tasks as needed, such as dishwashing or helping with prep for other stations.
Participate in training and meetings to improve skills and stay updated on kitchen policies.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred; culinary school education a plus.
Previous experience as a Line Cook in a high-end or fine dining restaurant is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation and kitchen equipment.
Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, bend and move for extended periods.
Lift and carry heavy items, such as stock pots or food containers, weighing up to 50 pounds.
Work in a hot and humid environment for prolonged periods.
