Line Cook

Job Summary: The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality dishes in a fast-paced, high-end kitchen. This role requires precision, attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the restaurant's culinary standards. The Line Cook works as part of a team to ensure a seamless dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to the restaurant's recipes and standards.

  • Maintain consistency in flavor, presentation and portion sizes.

  • Ensure all dishes leave the kitchen on time and meet quality expectations.

  • Set up and stock assigned stations with necessary supplies and ingredients before service.

  • Keep stations clean, organized and efficient during service.

  • Work closely with other cooks, chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations.

  • Communicate effectively about orders, special requests and any issues that arise during service.

  • Follow all food safety guidelines including proper handling, storage and labeling of ingredients.

  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment and tools throughout shifts.

  • Adhere to kitchen safety standards including knife handling and use of hot equipment.

  • Monitor inventory levels at your station and inform the chef of any shortages.

  • Properly store and rotate ingredients to minimize waste and ensure freshness.

  • Stay familiar with the restaurant’s menu including ingredients, preparation methods and presentation guidelines.

  • Be aware of dietary restrictions and accommodate special requests.

  • Assist with other kitchen tasks as needed, such as dishwashing or helping with prep for other stations.

  • Participate in training and meetings to improve skills and stay updated on kitchen policies.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; culinary school education a plus.

  • Previous experience as a Line Cook in a high-end or fine dining restaurant is strongly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of culinary techniques, food preparation and kitchen equipment.

  • Ability to multitask and perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, bend and move for extended periods.

  • Lift and carry heavy items, such as stock pots or food containers, weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Work in a hot and humid environment for prolonged periods.
