Job Overview: The Host Person is the first point of contact for guests, responsible for creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This role involves managing reservations, coordinating seating arrangements, and ensuring a smooth flow of guests into the dining area. The ideal candidate will have exceptional customer service skills and a friendly, professional demeanor.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet guests promptly and warmly as they arrive, creating a positive first impression.
Manage reservations using a booking system or reservation book and handle walk-in guests effectively.
Provide accurate wait time estimates and communicate updates to guests.
Escort guests to their tables and present menus, ensuring they are comfortable and attended to.
Answer guest inquiries about the menu, specials, and restaurant policies.
Maintain an organized and clean host stand, entrance area, and waiting area.
Coordinate with the floor staff and kitchen to ensure tables are prepared and guest flow is efficient.
Monitor table status and dining room activity to optimize seating arrangements.
Assist in clearing and resetting tables during peak times, as needed.
Handle guest complaints or concerns with professionalism, escalating to management when necessary.
Anticipate guest needs to ensure an exceptional dining experience.
Communicate effectively with servers, bussers, and management to support seamless service.
Contribute to a positive team environment by being punctual, reliable, and professional.
Required Skills/ Qualifications:
Previous experience as a host or in a customer-facing role is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment.
Professional appearance and attitude.
Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Familiarity with reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable, Resy) is an advantage.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
Must be able to work on your feet for at least 8 hours.
Fast paced movements are required to go from one part of the restaurant and property to others.
Must be able to move, pull, carry or lift at least 15 pounds.
Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required.
