Bartender

Job Overview: Provide exceptional service to customers in a courteous, efficient, and accurate manner with a sincerely pleasant and professional demeanor. Preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and assisting with all aspects of service during the shift and in preparation to ensure the highest standards of quality in food and beverages are served. Supporting the management team and all other team members as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greets all guests with enthusiasm and friendliness.

  • Mix ingredients to prepare cocktails and other drinks. 

  • Serves alcoholic beverages consistent with company standards and state and federal regulations. 

  • Practice all responsible alcohol practices.

  • Answers guest inquiries regarding all food and beverages accurately while in a friendly manner.

  • Learn and maintain knowledge of the food menu and its ingredients. Have ability to provide detailed description of every dish, both regular and special menu items. Explain any special instructions to guests as appropriate.

  • Create a menu for guests while accommodating ingredient preferences, dietary restrictions, allergies and price requirements.

  • Checks and maintains the overall cleanliness of the bar including: but not limited to i.e., underneath bar top, the sink basins, storage areas, floors and drains below the wells, back bar bottles, glassware shelves, all metal surfaces on low boys, espresso machines, etc.

  • Provides the highest level of service in accordance with company standards, ensures that guests have a positive and memorable experience at Rockaway Ocean Club.

  • Maintains professional relationships with all coworkers and communicates with food and beverage staff to ensure guest satisfaction.

  • Reports to work as scheduled, in uniform, well groomed, and ready to be in position. Always maintains a professional appearance.

  • Learn and maintain knowledge of all floorplans and table numbers.

  • Completing assigned opening and closing side work.

  • Communicates special needs to kitchen, managers, and other staff (i.e. VIP, Celebrity, Allergy, in a rush, etc.). Informs management of guest’s reactions, comments and potential concerns and complaints that may occur.

  • Have the ability to identify VIP’s and utilize VIP procedures.

  • Responsible for keeping track of money from checks and proper cash handling.

  • Complete all check out reports at the end of each shift and have it double checked and signed by management.

  • Assists with trash removal as needed.

  • Follows safety and sanitation rules and practices in accordance to health code standards.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work flexible shifts and schedules, including weekends and holidays.

  • Must be able to demonstrate competency as outlined in the training schedule.

  • Must be hospitable, respectful towards colleagues and guests.

  • Excellent people skills and outgoing personality.

  • Basic English speaking and written communication skills.

  • Ability to take direction, understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to work in a team environment and must be a team player.

  • Ability to work calmly, quickly and effectively under pressure.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.

  • Must be able to work on your feet for at least eight (8) hours.

  • Fast paced movements are required in all areas of the restaurant and property.

  • Must be able to move, pull, carry or lift at least 45 pounds.

  • Occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required.
