Job Overview: The Barista Scooper is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee beverages, gelato and desserts while providing exceptional customer service. This role combines barista duties with gelato scooping and food presentation, ensuring guests enjoy a memorable experience. It is integral to delivering a delightful customer experience, combining excellent service with skillful preparation of coffee and gelato offerings. Success in this role requires enthusiasm, efficiency, and a passion for quality and hospitality.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet customers warmly and assist them with menu selections.
Provide information about coffee blends, gelato flavors and other menu items.
Handle customer requests, special orders and inquiries with a friendly and professional attitude.
Prepare and serve coffee beverages including espresso-based drinks, teas and specialty drinks according to established recipes and standards.
Operate and maintain coffee equipment such as espresso machines and grinders.
Scoop gelato and serve desserts in an aesthetically pleasing manner.
Offer samples and recommendations based on customer preferences.
Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of gelato display cases.
Follow all food safety guidelines to ensure the freshness and quality of products.
Keep workstations, equipment and customer areas clean and sanitized.
Properly store ingredients and supplies to maintain quality standards.
Process orders and handle payments accurately using the POS system.
Manage cash, credit and digital transactions with efficiency.
Provide receipts and correct change resolving any payment discrepancies promptly.
Restock gelato, coffee supplies and packaging materials as needed.
Monitor inventory levels and report shortages to the manager.
Assist in receiving and organizing deliveries.
Work cooperatively with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy shifts.
Support colleagues with tasks such as cleaning, restocking and prepping.
Promote seasonal specials, new flavors and menu items.
Upsell additional items such as pastries, topping or specialty drinks to enhance the customer experience.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous experience in a coffee shop, ice cream shop, or food service role is an advantage.
Basic knowledge of coffee brewing techniques and equipment.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand, bend, and move for extended periods.
Lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
Perform repetitive motions such as scooping and pouring.
